For PDPH individuals who don’t respond to conservative medical therapy, alternative treatments including bilateral occipital nerve block must be regarded as.In this study the efficacy of bilateral occipital nerve block was retrospectively evaluated in patients with post-dural puncture headache. Procedures: Ultrasound-guided bilateral occipital nerve block was administrated in 21 patients who created PDPH just after spinal anesthesia, but did not respond to conservative health-related treatment inside 48 hours between January 2012 and February 2014. The study was performed at Erzincan University Faculty of Medicine Gazi Mengucek Education and Study Hospital Outcomes: Mean Visual Analog Scale (VAS) pain scores at 10 minutes and six, 10, 15 and 24 hours immediately after the block have been drastically improved compared to the individuals using a pre-block VAS score involving 4 and 6 as well as individuals using a pre-block VAS score in between 7 and 9 (p0.01). Immediately after 24 hours of the block applied, VAS discomfort score dropped to 1 for all 12 sufferers who had a pre-block VAS score in between four and six. Whereas, VAS score decreased to two at 24 hours soon after the block in only among the patients having a pre-block VAS involving 7 and 9. For the patients with a pre-block VAS score among 7 and 9, there was no considerable improvement within the mean VAS score 24 hours just after the block. Conclusions: For patients with PDPH and a pre-block VAS score amongst 4 and 6 who usually do not respond to conservative healthcare therapy, an ultrasound-guided bilateral occipital nerve block may well be helpful.
